What does Prostream need to work properly?

If Prostream does not seem to work optimally, feels slow or does not meet the requirements in any other way, it may be that, for example, local (browser) settings, extensions or a VPN connection prevent Prostream from working properly.

Prostream uses several technologies that work together to deliver all the features. Settings or tools affect how these technologies work.

WebSockets (wss://prostreamapi.pro4all.nl/)

WebSockets provide a continuous connection between your device and our servers. This allows updates to be passed on immediately. Thanks to Websockets, Prostream provides you with updates in real time. This means that when something changes, you see it immediately, without refreshing the page.

API calls (https://prostreamapi.pro4all.nl/)

API stands for Application Programming Interface, and is a set of rules and tools that allow software programs to communicate with each other. For example, Prostream uses APIs when opening a project, where an API call is made to retrieve the necessary data.

Without these calls, Prostream cannot retrieve, store, or change data. It's the bridge between you and the data you need.

Cookies, local and session storage

Cookies are small pieces of information that websites store on your device. This allows websites to remember previously specified preferences (such as the contents of the collection folder) and can be used to stay logged in. This way you have a smoother experience in Prostream and you do not have to enter the same settings again and again.

JavaScript and popups

JavaScript is a programming language that makes web pages interactive. Many functions in Prostream depend on this.

Popups are windows that appear on top of the current web page and are often used for additional information. They are essential for certain functions and notifications within Prostream. So blocking popups can hide certain information or actions.

Security software

Security software includes anti-virus software, firewalls, or other security tools that protect your computer from malicious activity. While these software are essential to the security of your device, they can sometimes interfere with communication between your browser and Prostream. Therefore, make sure that Prostream is trusted or whitelisted by your security software.

In addition, some extensions in browsers (such as an ad blocker in Chrome) can cause problems with Prostream.

When should I check these settings?

Problems with these technical settings are not common. In the following cases it is good to check the settings:

  • Prostream responds slower than usual;
  • Prostream does not display certain updates;
  • You often have to log in again;
  • You get notifications about connection problems;
  • Certain functions of Prostream do not work properly.

If you work in a business environment, it may be that the ICT department has implemented updates or changes. In that case you can contact them.

If you experience problems that may be related to the above, it may help to open Prostream in a different browser, or in an incognito window of the same browser. This is not always the solution, but can provide a direction for the solution.
